Kenya has undertaken to participate in World Exposition 2015 Milan, Italy, courtesy of a Note Verbale by the Government and a Participation Contract already signed in this respect, in response to invitation by the Italian Government.
Kenya has in the past participated in a number of such events, including Expo 2000 Hannover, Germany; Expo 2005, Aichi, Japan; Expo 2008 Zaragoza, Spain; Expo 2010 Shanghai, China; and Expo 2012 Yeosu, South Korea, just to mention but a few.
The events have been beneficial to Kenya by enabling the country to showcase its trade, investment and tourism opportunities to a large public audience. The last major exposition was held in Shanghai, China in 2010, and attracted about 87 million visitors.
The Export Promotion Council has been the implementing agency for Kenya’s participation in the above events, in collaboration with the Ministry of East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism as well as Foreign Affairs and International Trade through Kenyan Missions in these respective countries hosting the expositions.
