History - Slovenia pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010

The design idea came from the "book".

The façade represents "the library" attractive, where are putting thousands of pounds.

Eight "books" giants means "eight immortals crossing the sea" of Chinese culture to present the areas economy, culture, science, technical and human science, sport in the country. Visitors can begin their journey "open a book, take a walk in the books," enjoying the scenery and cultural diversity of Slovenia.

- Entered into each "book" can be "read" with video, sound, projections etc.

- Through the visual sense, hearing, touch and even smell, the eight "books" bring you a dreamy feel.

Slovenian pavilion
One of the participants at the Expo 2015 Milano is also Slovenia.

These exhibitions vary in character and are held every 5 years in varying parts of the world. The main theme is "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life".

The importance of the World Exhibition in Milan is even greater for Slovenia, because of its immediate vicinity. Italy is also the first in number of tourists in Slovenia, the second most important foreign trade partner of Slovenia and the third largest foreign investor in Slovenia. According to the organizers the world exhibition will host 20 million people, of which every fourth is Italian.

The idea for the Slovenian pavilion is based on the slogan "I FEEL SLOVENIA. Green. Active. Healthy".

The common thread in the exhibition manifests itself through a series of interactive elements and architectural design through the pavilion.

Five prismatical structures, positioned on the geometrically and dynamically designed surface, whose shape is reminiscent of a cultivated field, represent Slovenian diverse geographical landscape and symbolize fundamental ideas of sustainable development.

Slovenia pavilion... what about ?

Theme "I Feel Slovenia. Green. Active. Healthy"

The Concept

The vastness of its forest, the abundance of its lakes and streams, the charm of the sea and its coastlines, the wealth of its nature reserves, its variety of flora and fauna: during Expo Milano 2015, Slovenia looks to reflect the image of its outstanding natural beauty, ideal for an active and healthy life.

Its pavilion, which covers an exhibition area of 1,910 square meters, exemplifies the strong connection between a healthy environment and a healthy food produced locally, with methods that do not weigh on the ecosystem. Indeed, natural resources are the key to sustainable food and good quality of life.

Slovenia sets out to stimulate the visitor’s senses, offering a showcase of its culinary diversity. Although, in geographical terms, it is relatively small, the country has 24 gastronomic regions, and at Expo Milano 2015 visitors can sample wide array of delights for the palate, including wines. Vineyards are indeed a characteristic of a significant portion of the Slovenian territory.

Walking through the green areas, which are a key feature of the pavilion, visitors are reminded of its lush landscape and can take this opportunity to get to know Slovenia in all its glory.

Slovenia preparing for the EXPO Milano 2015 world exhibition

Slovenia will be presented at the EXPO Milano 2015, to which 141 countries from all around the world have applied, with its own exhibition area. SPIRIT Slovenia, Public Agency, will take care of the implementation of the Slovenian appearance in cooperation with various ministries. The main theme will be green, healthy and active Slovenia in connection with tourism and the I Feel Slovenia trademark.

The World Expo has been organized every five years since 1851 when the first such event was hosted in London by Queen Victoria. The EXPO has never been so close to Slovenia, who signed a participation agreement within the framework of an official visit of Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek last year. In the exhibition area, which is one million square meters in size, Slovenia has successfully guaranteed an independent pavilion in an excellent location.

The focus of the first EXPO, entitled `Industry for All Nations` was completely different than today. The new EXPO Milano 2015, which will open its doors on 1 May 2015, has the slogan `Food for the Planet, Energy for Life`. This not only addresses the question of food, but other subthemes as well, such as sustainability, ecology, green innovations and healthy lifestyles. The purpose of the exhibition in Milano is to educate the public and to explore the bridging of problems of the modern world.

Organisers expect around 20 million visitors, 15 million of which will be Italians; in other words, every fourth Italian inhabitant will visit the EXPO in Milan. This is the first such event in Italy since the Winter Olympic Games in Torino in 2006; moreover, it is also a key economic event for Slovenia, since the neighbouring Italy is its second most important partner for export trade. The Italian market is of key importance for Slovenia also from the point of view of tourism, since Italians generated the most arrivals and overnight stays in Slovenia last year.

A result of the importance of EXPO for a country is most clearly visible in the Eiffel Tower that was constructed in Paris in 1889. Even though the inhabitants of Paris initially weren`t excited about the `pile of metal`, they even wanted to demolish it, the tower remained along the Seine and is now considered one of the biggest attractions in the world.
