Expo Gate: Milan’s gateway to the Expo
Situated in the heart of Milan, Expo Gate introduces the public to Expo Milano 2015 and forms a bridge between the city and the Exhibition Site. From May 2014, Expo Gate is the stage on which Milan interprets the central theme of Expo Milano 2015: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. Open to residents and visitors, it offers a light and airy place to meet, learn and share ideas. The Expo Gate is created by Scandurra Studio and consists of two modular and transparent buildings with a light form, designed to have a minimal impact on the environment.
The location of Expo Gate is Via Beltrami, right in the historic center of Milan, with the Sforzesco Castle on one side – which was the site of the Universal Exposition of 1906 – and Via Dante on the other side, the street along which the flags of over 130 participating countries are displayed. This location symbolizes the role as a gateway between Milan and the Expo, in the same way as Milan has always been considered a bridge between Italy and the rest of the world.
