2015: The anniversary of the establishment of Chinese-Italian diplomatic relations
Speaking during the ceremony, Mr. Wang Jinzhen underlined that both the Chinese and Italian governments attach great importance to China’s participation at Milan Expo 2015 on the 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-Italy diplomatic relations that will take place in 2015. This year, on June 11,this year, the Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, in Beijing. They reached an important agreement that China and Italy would use Expo Milano 2015 as a great opportunity for a bilateral cooperation, which is also clearly articulated in a three-year action plan (2014-2016) issued by China and Italy to strengthen their economic partnership. He observed: "It is therefore meaningful for us to ensure China’s successful participation at the Expo as the tangible evidence of the consensus reached by our leaders. Currently, the design, as well as earthworks and foundations for the China Pavilion, have been successfully completed. Today, the opening ceremony of the surface construction for the China Pavilion officially marks its entry into a critical phase of comprehensive construction. We have every confidence that the construction unit of China Pavilion will fully satisfy with the project requirements for a scientific, rapid and high quality construction. We count on the ongoing support of the Organizing Committee of Expo Milano 2015.”
China is included among the countries that have invested heavily in Expo Milano 2015
Mr. Giuseppe Sala, Commissioner of the Government of Italy for Expo Milano 2015 and CEO of the Expo 2015 Company, delivered a speech on behalf of Italy: “China is proving to be one of Milan Universal Exposition’s key partners: we have already reached the target of 1 million tickets sold to Chinese operators and undoubtedly, with its three Pavilions, the Country is among those which has invested the most in our event. The projects which were presented and the interpretations of the Theme are very high profile and will offer visitors an edutainment experience rich in content and of extraordinary interest. I am sure that Expo Milano 2015 will be a unique opportunity to familiarize Italians and the rest of the world with the history, the thousand-year old traditions and innovations of this great Country. China can and wants to make a strategic contribution to the global challenge of sustainable development for the near future.”
Expo Milano 2015: the first time that China has participated in a Universal Exposition overseas
As we are all aware, it is the first time that China appears on the international stage of the Universal Exposition, with a large, self-built Pavilion of 4,590 square meters, second only to the Germany Pavilion. The design scheme of the China Pavilion is fully integrated with traditional Chinese architecture structures and forms, as well as modern design ideas, with a profile that is similar to “Wheat Waves” in a Land of Hope. Indeed, the theme of the China Pavilion is “Land of Hope, Food for Life.”
