Pavilions of Expo 2015 Milano : AUSTRIA

Theme : «Breathe. Austria ».

From outside Austria is represented in a relatively simple but attractive... at the entrance, well-green trees and umbrellas with the colors of the country seem to mean "enter, and come breathe Austria".

The country has staked everything on its landscape and climate to make visitors aware of responsible exploitation of resources.

The interior of the pavilion is actually a large forest that fits the theme trail. It is nature that speaks and we can not be insensitive. The atmosphere is especially appreciated, a day of intense heat Milanese ... success guaranteed!

This pavilion is a "must" at the Expo!

Theme "Breathe. Austria"

The Concept

Austria is world-renowned as a country of culture, with a high standard of living. Austria’s key aim at the Expo Milano 2015 is to reinforce its reputation worldwide as an attractive place to live. Inside its 1,910 square meter exposition site, it showcases the naturally high standards and recreational spaces that make it so well-regarded.

Its positive image are enriched by new elements, such as the landscape and climate, playing a key role in driving awareness around the use of sustainable resources.

A large quantity of food is already produced with sustainable techniques and the range of organic products available to consumers in supermarkets is higher than anywhere else in Europe. Encouraging strong connections between producers, sellers and consumers is central to Austria’s thematic itinerary of food sustainability; its cuisine is the result of its cultural characteristics, being Austria a culturally independent country within the German-speaking world. Another feature of its exposition is the purity of its climate, air and environment.

Where will be the Austria Pavilion ?

Location

The 110 hectare EXPO site will be surrounded by a canal which symbolises water as one of the central elements of the EXPO theme. As well as having a positive influence on the micro-climate it also references the Navigli, a system of waterways around Milan, some elements of which were conceived by Leonardo da Vinci.

The layout of the site is modelled on the classic grid system used in Roman towns, with two main streets, the cardo (north-south) and the decumanus (east-west). A large central square on the scale of the Piazza della Scala di Milano is located at the intersection of these two axes. The international participants are situated along the decumanus, while the Italian exhibitions are grouped around the cardo.

The Austrian plot is not far from the intersection of the two main axes, opposite the German and Swiss exhibitions and adjacent to that of Slovenia. From the terrace of the Austrian pavilion, visitors enjoy an unobstructed view of the 9,000-seat Open Air Theatre, where the official ceremonies, performances and concerts will take place.
