Bahrain pavilion... Call for Volunteers

Call for Volunteers
Special work experience programme launched by the Ministry of Culture

The Ministry of Culture of Bahrain is participating in the Expo Milan 2015 for the first time next year. And in line with its international participations and representations of Bahraini culture and heritage to world audiences, the Ministry of Culture is looking for volunteers to give their time and energy as the Ministry prepares for the Expo and the opening of the Bahrain Pavilion, which is due to be launched on 1st May 2015.

The Pavilion represents a series of fruit gardens in a continuous landscape that is designed as a poetic interpretation of the agrarian cultural heritage of the country. The gardens each contain a dominant fruit tree that is native to Bahrain and are intersected by a series of closed spaces that contain in turn a reception area, exhibition spaces and a café serving local Bahraini food

Volunteers have been integral to the success of all Ministry of Culture events and engagements across the world. Taking place between May and November 2015, the role of volunteers is critical to the success of the Pavilion.

Archaeologies of Green

The pavilion of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the Expo Milano 2015 is a poetic interpretation of the cultural agrarian heritage of the country, which stems from the ancient civilization of Dilmun.

With ten distinctive fruit gardens, containing trees that will be fruit-bearing at different moments throughout the six-month duration of the exhibition, the pavilion also features archeological artifacts that celebrate the millennia long tradition of agriculture and perpetuate the many myths of Bahrain as the location of the Garden of Eden and the land of the million palm trees.

Built out of white prefabricated concrete panels, the pavilion will be moved to Bahrain at the end of the Expo and once rebuilt will serve as a botanical garden. The prefabricated components of the buildings, visible through the seams that connect them to one another, loosely refer to the inherent and distinguished forms of the archaeology of Bahrain.

History - Bahraïn pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai

The Bahrain Pavilion was located in Zone A of the Expo 2010 in Shanghai, in the Joint Asian Pavilion n2.

The facade of the Pavilion is fairly standard and is formed by a mix of modernism and traditional.

The internal structure of the Pavilion is inspired by the curves of an oyster shell, such a fluid pathway that will guide the visitor on a trip full of discoveries.

Culture and history to the contemporary development, how the country looks to the future? Soft colors and interesting presentations show the charm of the Bahrain under specific aspects.
